The Cosmic Initiatic University of Yok’hah Maya was founded in 2007 by Itza Maya Elder Hunbatz Men in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. Maestro Hunbatz, member of Gran Consejo de Ancianos y Sacerdotes (Great Council of Elders and Priests) and international spiritual leader for indigenous wisdom, has taught Mayan philosophy and cosmology for over 30 years to diverse groups. He realized the time was right to create a more formal structure to impart these ageless teachings, according to cycles of the Mayan Calendars. Compiling the traditional knowledge from his shamanic lineage and his studies of Mayan information contained in codices and monumental inscriptions, he developed a curriculum to organize and unfold these profound understandings in a clear, meaningful sequence. His mission is to bring these teachings and this understanding of the universe to a wide range of students from around the world. The Diplomate Program is an organized course of study that includes this material. It is composed of class content (lectures on Maya cosmovision and philosophy), exercises and practices, assignments for self-study, and field trips to Mayan ceremonial and sacred sites. The Maya coded cosmic information into pyramids and other structures in their cities, reflecting their advanced astronomical sciences and calendric knowledge. Maestro Hunbatz demonstrates how stones and temples hold and communicate information, and how energies are created and activated in Mayan sites. Upon completion of this course of study, the University awards a Diploma to graduates. Several distinguished faculty collaborate with Maestro Hunbatz, bringing their particular expertise in Maya studies, calendars, sacred geometry, energetic and healing processes, yoga practice and philosophy, and metaphysics. The University offers other programs, including Sacred Geometry of the Maya Pyramids, Archeoastronomy, Healing and Balancing with Light Energies, Study of Maya Glyphic Writing, Fire Woman Training, and Sacred Feminine Moon and Elements. Facilities of the University include a Teaching Center in Merida, and the Maya Ceremonial, Cultural & Educational Center at Lol Be, between Merida and Chichen Itza, in the state of Yucatan, Mexico.
